Whale Watching Tours

Boat-based whale watching from Icy Strait Point toward productive summer waters near Point Adolphus.

Icy Strait is widely regarded as one of Southeast Alaska’s stronger summer humpback areas. Local whale cruises typically depart from the Icy Strait Point complex with naturalist commentary. Sightings depend on season, weather, and animal movement — never guaranteed.

Point Adolphus and nearby channels concentrate feeding activity in season. You may also see other marine mammals when present. Operators differ on vessel size, duration, and cancellation rules — enquire with your ship date rather than assuming a standard product.

Cruise-time suitability is usually strong for dedicated whale trips of about 2–3 hours, provided seas cooperate and you protect return buffers — especially from Wilderness Landing.
