Destination geography
Icy Strait Point sits on Chichagof Island in Southeast Alaska, along Icy Strait, with a published address at 108 Cannery Road, Hoonah. It is a cruise complex built around a historic salmon cannery — not a large city waterfront like Juneau or Ketchikan.
The destination is owned and operated by Huna Totem Corporation. Hoonah is the adjacent community context: a living Tlingit village, not a synonym for the pier shops.
Piers & getting ashore
Two floating docks serve modern calls: Ocean / Adventure Landing (closer to the historic cannery and Adventure Center hub) and Wilderness Landing (opened 2021, about a half-mile from the main hub, often used by larger ships).
Most guests walk off the ship. Industry berth lists still include tender codes for some assignments, so verify your cruise line’s program rather than assuming every sailing docks.
From Wilderness Landing, the free Transporter Gondola connects to the main port area. The SkyGlider is a separate paid mountain gondola — do not confuse the two.
Hoonah access
Downtown Hoonah is nearby (commonly described as about 1–2 miles). Shuttles are the practical choice for many guests in rain or on short calls. Exact shuttle pricing and schedules change — confirm on the day rather than relying on blog figures.
Return-to-ship considerations
